(You can see every detail about this plane including start up & flight. Please make sure to watch the video.) How much do we trust this plane? Well, when we buy a new plane we usually don’t fly at night the first flight. Considering the condition, maintenance history and how nice it flew the first two legs, we had a 2 hour night flight at the end of our 700 mile trip. This 172M has the lowest hours I’ve seen. Only 1855 total hours. It is in exceptional condition. During our inspection we spoke to the IA who had done the maintenance on it for years. The owner did not spare any maintenance costs. It was hangared in the Midwest. We opened up the panels to see inside and all looked very clean. Cessna 172M is the most in demand airplane. Its engine is the main reason. When maintained, the Lycoming O-320-E2D can run 3000-4000 hours before needing an overhaul. This engine starts right up, runs smooth. No leaks. Very good compressions 71 72 73 74. Full Tanis engine heater installed in oil pan and all 4 cylinders; increases the engine life by not having cold starts which are very bad for engines. We flew it yesterday when it was very cold (only 10°F). Cabin heat works well, it was nice and comfortable inside. The plane has nice, upgraded digital avionics. Dual digital NAV/COMM radios so you can pre-dial frequencies to reduce the pilot workload. Garmin 150XL moving map GPS. You can insert the flight plan and it’s easy to follow with the moving map. It also provides valuable information. It's not as pretty as the newer models but gets the job done. Plane has dual CDI (one with glideslope) so you can fly or train IFR. ADS-B out so you can fly any US airspace and into any class airport without restrictions. During our test flight for the video of about 40 min, most of the time the pilot flew without touching the yoke, still maintaining heading and altitude. Well balanced planes with balanced controls you can fly like that. Cessna 172M is inherently resistant to spins. It is easy and safe to fly. Fly and land in all types of weather and wind or night. Beautiful 3 tone paint in great condition. For me it is important how an airplane looks because an airplane is not just a transport but also our pride too. This quality paint cost $15,000-18,000. Clean interior. All windows are clean. How I think of it is; if an airplane is hangared and has a nice interior and exterior it is a very good indication that the owner cared for and maintained the plane very well. One other reason for the demand of the 172M is its low cost to fly. 6-8 gal/hr fuel burn with maintenance and annual costs very low. Insurance rates are among the lowest. This plane has all logs since new. No damage history. Current annual. It is hard to find a 172M with this low hours and such a nice condition. This is a plane you can be proud to own and a joy fly.
